Aquamarine

One of my favourite pictures. Taken in Xlendi, Gozo on 28th August 2004, it depicts a beautiful marine spot yet undiscovered by Maltese and tourists alike.

A jellyfish floating at the surface, some two metres away from where I stood to take the previous picture. Best picture I managed to take since it was constantly bobbing up and down and chasing small fish. Too bad the tentacles don't show.

Same jellyfish but with tentacles showing..

The picture which was the biggest hit with my friends on that Gozitan day. This pretty one took me quite a while to get on screen.. but it was well worth the wait!

Hi, I was wondering do you touch these? I thought that they (especially the bigger ones) are poisonous,,,
Hi.. No I did not touch them at all. Took the close-ups using the Optical zoom of my camera. I think the yellow one is poisonous, as you said. Not sure about this one. However, both the ones I took were floating away from the shore so at least no harm could have come from these two.
all jellyfish are poisonous, its the amount they contain and inject that makes them dangerous or not to humans.
The last one you posted if i am not mistaken is the common one. It's bit causes only some swelling and burning feeling where the bit occured.
Never saw the second one in my life but as far as I know the only real dangerous jellyfish for humans is the Portugese man-of-war since its very big therefore injecting a large amount of poison compared to the smaller types. As regards to this last species though its hardly ever seen in the Maltese sea
Oh.. never knew that. Thanks!
HI, I LIKE HOW YOU PUT YOUR PIC ON YOUR HOME PAGE, BUT I WOULD LIKE THAT YOU TEACH ME HOW. HOPE HEAR FROM YOU SONNER
Juan, I used Hello BloggerBot to upload the pics to my page. Suggest you follow that link and create an account for yourself. Make sure you have an account with Blogger first tho as whatever pictures you upload to Hello will be sent to your blog. Hope you'll manage.. it's quite easy.
Hi Fel. Have you ever tried your hand at portrait photogrpahy? It's amazing, all those possibilities, expressions, hidden messages, all those features.... and just imagine, everyone one of us has a different set of facial looks, expressions, moods, temperaments... all captured and stored forever by your able hand. Can you just picture (excuse the pun!) what a treasured collection you will have of all the people your eye will have picked out? Of all those unique moments in someone else's life that you would give life to forever in a photo? You have that chance in your hands. How do I know? Because I have been there and I can see your potential.... Good luck..!
By the way, I tried to read your post on writing poems but it seems you've removed it. It would be interesting to read what your thoughts were that day. I also happen to write poems from time to time and I could really relate to the mood you seem to have experienced that day. Well, only if you want to....
I believe there is a kind of jellyfish, in Australia if I'm not mistaken, which has enough poison in its tentacles to kill approx 10 humans.
As far as i know, the big brown ones which migrate esp in mid to late summer are not poisonous, BUT, I wouldn't risk touchin em, that's for sure:p
